Since the shift to working and learning from home, Unified Communications (UC) has boomed with virtual communications like video calls and instant messaging becoming the glue holding us all together. In this episode Bill Wignall, President and CEO of Sangoma Technologies joins Kenrick to discuss what Unified Communications really means, Sangoma’s growth with its Communication as a Service (CaaS) model, the role of open-source software, and the US$437 million acquisition of Star2Star Communications.

As President and CEO, Bill leads the company in the execution of its growth strategy. His deep operational and strategic skills are a major asset to the corporation. He brings to Sangoma his personal style of working closely with existing customers and valued channel partners. Under Bill’s leadership, Sangoma is dramatically expanding its product portfolio and targeting new markets and territories to further accelerate growth. As a technology industry veteran, Mr. Wignall most recently held the role of President and CEO at Truition Inc., a developer and marketer of e-Commerce software. Prior to that, he was President and CEO of Electronics Workbench – a supplier of design, development and simulation software for electronics engineering – where he guided the company through an aggressive growth and rebranding phase that culminated in the sale of the company to National Instruments. Bill has served in senior management roles throughout his career at companies ranging in size from start-ups to Northern Telecom, BNI and Telezone.
